With their first Japan tour in 2023 still fresh in our memories, eco-ambient duo Green-House presents their highly anticipated third album—their debut release on the prestigious Ghostly International label. As if embracing nature and reaffirming their connection to it, they gracefully traverse the boundaries between city and wilderness, organic and digital, into uncharted sonic landscapes (Hinterland). A masterpiece for a new era, vividly resonating with overflowing "joy" and "wonder," is here. Olive Ardizoni and Michael Flanagan, who perform as Green-House, explore the connection between humanity and the natural world through dynamic, joy-inducing synthesis. Their collaborative process is profound. It is a dialogue in which frequencies and expressions overlap in multiple layers, much like camouflage. The project’s starting point can originate from either artist. Sometimes Ardizoni writes the melody and Flanagan builds harmonics upon it; other times, the reverse is true. It is in the moment when their ideas intertwine like a double helix and are sublimated into a profound resonance that transcends individual elements that the true power of Green-House resides. On their debut full-length album *Hinterlands*, released via the prestigious Ghostly International, they have further refined their vivid instrumental songwriting, achieving a freer, more dynamic sound that transcends genre boundaries. This album features a more active, percussive approach and an emotionally charged energy than their previous works. The flowing sequences of sound project vast landscapes before the listener’s eyes. *Hinterlands* confronts the beauty of this world with a kind of “radical honesty.” Since 2020, the duo—who have released numerous works through the Los Angeles-based label Leaving Records—have maintained a constant curiosity about their surroundings. Utilizing acoustic instruments, synthesizers, high-definition sound design, and Ardizoni’s signature original melodies, they use these elements to paint a sonic portrait of every space, from familiar locales to distant lands (the Hinterlands).
