Welcome to the extreme north of Anatolian Rock. BONGO JOE launches an abysmal 7" by the duo that energetically illuminates the shadows of modern Istanbul. Lalalar, the "electro-anarchist collective" from Istanbul, Turkey, has been under the radar of BONGO JOE as the successors to Altun Gün and has been attracting audiences with its exotic soundscapes and sounds drawn from the Anatolian Rock tradition. The band's latest 7" presents a beat that is full of destructive power, passing through industrial and rave. The A-side, "Hapisteler Ama Yenilige Dogru," follows a 750-year-old verse by Jalal Uddin Rumi. The song was also inspired by the 1982 masterpiece "Hommage a Nazim Hikmet" by Turay Germain and François Rabat, and its dark glitchy noise echoes meditatively while the core words pierce through. On the other hand, the B-side "Tabancamin Sapuni" boldly fuses the primitive melodies of the Black Sea region with industrial - rave and punk rock energy. The song, which plunges from a devastating seven-beat beat into tech house, vividly demonstrates the influences they received from the Berlin underground. The fusion of raucous rave and alternative rock, such as Prodigy and Fat Dog, mixed with Turkish traditions is breathtaking.
