This is a collection of dazzlingly brilliant Schumann (1810-1856) symphonies from Denmark. The young Swiss conductor Simon Gaudenz's innovative approach to these symphonies is a departure from anything that has been performed before, and the high sound quality, taking advantage of the high specs of the SACD, captures Schumann's delicate world perfectly. ＜Simon Gaudenz received his first piano lessons from his grandmother and studied clarinet at the University of Music in Lucerne. He then studied composition and conducting in Graz, Freiburg, and Salzburg, where he was trained by Leon Fleischer, Kurt Masur, and Dennis Russell Davis. He won first prize at the Rozhestvensky International Conducting Competition and has received numerous awards and scholarships, as well as guest appearances with many orchestras.He is currently Principal Guest Conductor of the Hamburg Chamber Orchestra and the Odense Symphony Orchestra.
