Formed in 1970, HORSLIPS is a leading Irish folk-rock/electric traditional band that burst onto the scene with a unique sound blending Irish traditional music with rock, later laying the foundation for the genre known as “Celtic Rock.” Aiming for a full-scale breakthrough in the U.S., they underwent a drastic transformation from their traditional Celtic rock sound to a raw and powerful rock sound influenced by punk and West Coast rock. This track, making its official debut, is taken from the tour accompanying the release of their 1977 album *ALIENS*, which can be considered a transitional work for the band. This live album, capturing their April 15, 1978, performance in San Francisco, is now available as a limited-edition crystal-clear LP from UK label Madfish for RSD 2026! The setlist for this concert consisted largely of tracks from *ALIENS* and their 1976 masterpiece *THE BOOK OF INVASIONS*. Throughout the performance, the band delivers an energetic rock ensemble that exudes a melancholic atmosphere rooted in Celtic and Irish traditional music, while also possessing the unique momentum only found in live performances. The intensity and wildness of their performance rival that of JETHRO TULL from the same era, making this a must-have release for anyone looking to re-evaluate HORSLIPS as a live band!
