From the Challenge Classics label "BUZZ" comes an album that is sure to attract the attention of classical music fans. The album features Bach's Preludes from the first volume of his Mean Clavier cycle, imaginatively recomposed and performed on two pianos. The music was written by Sebastian Bartmann and is simply superb. Each piece is minimalist music, repeating the most memorable notes of each prelude, but the rhythms, chords, and intensity of the music are so varied that the listener is never bored. The flexibility of the two pianos is a great weapon, and the looping melodies are played over each other like a beautiful murmur. The richness of Bach's original compositions and the 24 colors of his music are well utilized in each piece.The order of the piece begins in the key of C minor, alternating between major and minor as in the original piece, rising a semitone at a time until finally the key of C major appears. The entire piece is structured like a story, beginning with the shocking sixteenth note in C minor and ending in C major, where everything is purified and the concertos spread calmly.
