John Prine—a great artist hailed as the “Mark Twain of American songwriting” and a “songwriter’s songwriter” beloved by countless musicians. Rare recordings from his BBC sessions, featuring solo performances of songs from his first two albums, are now available for the first time as an official release titled *BBC SESSIONS*! John Prine made his debut in 1971 with the album *JOHNPRINE*. Over a career spanning more than 50 years, he has released numerous classic country-folk songs. With a sound that blends American roots music with rockabilly, R&B, and rock ’n’ roll, and through his unique and unparalleled songwriting, he is a great artist who has had a profound influence on American music. Beloved by countless musicians, he is a singer-songwriter who represents the good old days of America and is sometimes referred to as the “Mark Twain of American songwriting.” He passed away in April 2020 at the age of 73 due to complications from COVID-19. Throughout his career, he won two Grammy Awards, and in 2020, he received the Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award. Furthermore, his songs have been covered by countless artists across generations—from Joan Baez to Johnny Cash, Bonnie Raitt, Kris Kristofferson, Carly Simon, Norah Jones, Miranda Lambert, and the Everly Brothers—and the songs and melodies he left behind continue to be sung across the ages. Now, “BBC SESSIONS,” an album compiling live recordings he made for BBC Radio, is set to be released as an official album for the first time. This album will be released on vinyl as a limited edition for Record Store Day 2026, and a CD version will also be released for general distribution. This album features solo performances of songs from his 1971 debut album *John Prine* and his 1972 follow-up *Diamonds in the Rough*, offering listeners the chance to savor the rich sound of John Prine as a songwriter through these rare recordings.
