New Recording of Fauré "Requiem" by Herreweghe! Belgian master Philippe Herreweghe's third recording of the Fauré "Requiem" is now available on the NIFC label! The recording was made live at "Chopin and His Europe," one of the major music festivals in Poland organized by NIFC (National Fryderyk Chopin Institute). Fauré's masterpiece "Requiem" is often regarded as one of the "Three Great Requiems" and has been recorded by many great performers, but the two recordings by Herreweghe have both received outstanding reviews and are known as one of the definitive recordings of the piece. Fauré's "Requiem" is mainly performed in three different versions, but this time, as in the first recording, the second version (1893 version), which consists of seven pieces with the addition of a baritone soloist and brass instruments, "Consecration" and "Libera Me" to the first draft, was performed.The soloists are Dorothee Meals and Kresimir Strajanacz, who have regularly collaborated with Herreweghe. It has been 20 years since the last recording (33 years since the 1893 version), and we can look forward to a new mastery of the beauty of "Herreweghe's Fauré," which has become more mature with the passage of time.
