Description:
Mieczyslaw Suszynski(1866-1924):. Included in the recording. Mass in E-flat major, Op.15 Ojcze nasz (The Lord's Prayer) Mass in F major Zdrowaś Marya (Ave Maria) Two Songs to the Blessed Virgin Mary, Op.17 Requiem Op.38 Performers Robert Kachorowski (Baritone, Organ) This is a collection of religious music by Mieczyslaw Szczynski (1866-1924), an unknown composer from late 19th century Poland. The album includes two masses and several motets, with a requiem (Mass for the Dead), which was the inspiration for the production of this album. The Mass and Requiem are sung in Latin, while the famous prayers, "The Lord's Prayer (Our Father)" and "Ave Maria (Mary)" are sung in Polish. Szczynski received his initial musical training from his organist father, and later studied music theory, composition, organ, and piano at the conservatories in Berlin and Leipzig. He worked as a composer, organist, conductor, and teacher, including serving as artistic director of the Poznan Music Society and choral conductor of the Warsaw Philharmonic Orchestra, and as professor of organ at the Warsaw Conservatory, where he also taught counterpoint classes after Noskowski's death. Influenced by his brother, Father Juszef Szczynski, a clergyman, he became interested in church music, and after graduating from the Church Music School in Regensburg, he devoted himself to religious music as a composer. Performing is Robert Kacholowski, baritone singer and organist, doctor of musical arts (vocal music), and priest of the Archdiocese of Gdańsk. He completed his theology studies at the Catholic Theological Academy in Warsaw, studied organ and vocal music at the Academy of Music in Monewsko, and has given numerous concerts of organ performance (solo and accompanied) and vocal music (cantatas and oratorios). He is also a member of the ensemble "Servi Domini Cantores", composed of graduate priests who studied at the Polish Academy of Music for Voice, and is a lecturer at the vocal department of the Academy of Music in Monewsko. *Recording:August-September 2024, Poland.
