[Buckfast Abbey] Founded around the 11th century in Buckfast, in southwestern England, the abbey survived through various changes in its parent order. However, following the Dissolution of the Monasteries during the reign of Henry VIII, it was forced to relinquish all its lands and property; the buildings fell into a state of increasing ruin, until eventually only the stones remained as a testament to its former glory.
