Their history of high-octane rock ’n’ roll is, in many ways, the story of their frontman, the legendary and irreplaceable Lemmy Kilmister, who tragically passed away on December 28, 2015. Over the course of their illustrious 40-year career, spanning from 1975 to 2015, they released 22 studio albums and 10 live albums. With a die-hard fan base around the world, they remain a truly legendary rock ’n’ roll band that continues to influence artists across all genres. In April 2026, their “phantom” debut album—which they had completed in 1976 as their first recorded work but was not officially released until 1979—was released as *ONPAROLESESSIONS*, a deluxe 4-disc set (3CDs + BD) commemorating the 50th anniversary of the album’s completion. This set included rare, very early recordings by the legendary band, Steven Wilson remixes of the album tracks, and Dolby Atmos versions. Now, from among the numerous rare alternative mixes featured on the bonus discs of *ONPAROLESESSIONS*, a limited-edition vinyl release titled “ONPAROLE (THE ALTERNATIVE MIXES BY RICHARD DIGBY SMITH)” has been announced, featuring a carefully curated selection of alternate takes of the same tracks as those on the original album. Featuring nine tracks carefully selected from a wealth of rare alternate takes of early recordings made by Motorhead—comprising Lemmy, Phil Taylor, Larry Wallis, and Lucas Fox—between 1975 and 1976, this release serves as the “true” alternative album to the original *ONPAROLE* album, which, although recorded in 1976, serves as the “true” alternative to the original album *ON PAROLE*, which, although recorded in 1976, was not released until 1979 as the band’s fourth album. Furthermore, this standalone vinyl release will be issued in a black-and-clear smoky marble vinyl format that closely matches the band’s image.
