Asako Urushihara, the youngest ever winner of the 2nd Japan International Music Competition while still a student at Geidai, studied at the Tokyo National University of Fine Arts and Music and the Juilliard School, and now performs and teaches at her alma mater, Tokyo National University of Fine Arts and Music. The collection includes Sonata No. 1 by the great French composer Saint-Saens and the very dramatic Sonata by Lecoux, a Belgian composer who died prematurely. (C)RS
