This is the third work by Levon Eskenian's remarkable Gurdjieff Ensemble. Their most adventurous work to date, it not only revives the music of the esoteric teacher G.I. Gurdjev for folk instruments, but also places Gurdjev in the tradition of Armenian bards and troubadours, including Aashk Jivani, Bagdasar Tobir, and the legendary Sayat Nova. Parallel to this, the Great Prayer, with its emphasis on works for sacred dance, culminates in a captivating collaboration between the Gurdjev Ensemble and the Armenian National Chamber Choir, incorporating ritual music from multiple religions.Arranger Eskenian commented, "The Great Prayer is more than just a 'composition. It is one of the most profound and transformative works I have encountered in Gurdjieff's oeuvre. The work was recorded in Yerevan in 2021 and completed in Munich in November 2022, mixed by Levon Eskenian, Tigran Kuzikyan, and Manfred Eicher.This is a 50-minute scream version of a horror series based on a collection of realistic and terrifying experiences of psychic phenomena.
