Description:
Clementi, a pianist and composer from Rome, was a child prodigy, passing the organist's exam at age 9 and composing an oratorio at age 12. His talent was noticed by a member of the Beckford family in England, who took him in and settled him in Dorset. There he trained as a composer and performer in his own way, and built the foundation of his career as a harpsichordist in London. He has since performed in Paris, Vienna, and London, as well as founding and running a company that publishes scores and produces pianos, demonstrating his versatility and ability to keep up with the times. As a pianist, Clementi is always introducing new techniques in his works in line with the development of the instrument, as well as spectacular techniques to demonstrate his own playing skills, making his works a joy to listen to. Performed by Korean pianist Hyejin Kim, who first gained attention in 2005 as the youngest prize winner at the Busoni International Piano Competition and made her Carnegie Hall debut.
