Description:

Vincent d'Indy (1851-1931) is an important figure in the French musical tradition, having left behind such works as the "Symphonie de la Cevennes," a symphony of songs of the French mountain people, and having produced many disciples from the "Schola Cantorum" he founded with his friends. Included in this collection are three works: "Symphony No. 2," a large-scale work with the tight structure of Bruckner and Wagner works; "Memories," dedicated to his late wife; "Ishtar," based on an ancient Assyrian epic poem; and a prelude to the first act of Dandy's first opera, "Ferwahr. Recorded in 2015 by the Royal Scottish National Orchestra/Jean-Luc Tango conducting. (C)RS
