Description:
This is a collection of chamber music works by Puerto Rican-born composer Sierra. Sierra has been attracted to traditional Caribbean music since his youth and is known for his continuous attempts to fuse it with Western music, but recently he has been interested in taking material from areas other than traditional music, and "Kandinsky" on this album, as the title suggests, is a sensuous suite inspired by the abstract paintings of the Russian artist Kandinsky The album's title, "Kandinsky," is a sensual suite inspired by the abstract paintings of the Russian artist Kandinsky. Salsa rhythms also appear on track 11. The result is a work that is uniquely Sierra. Before completing this work, in 2002, Sierra also wrote "Turner," also inspired by the painter Turner. He has been tireless in his pursuit of the sound created by the fusion of painting and music. Formas de~" for four hands is the longest piece of Sierra's chamber music. It is a special work written for two members of the ensemble "Continuum," with whom Sierra has collaborated for many years.
