This disc features the latest 2018 work by contemporary American composer Kenneth Fuchs. This is the fifth Hooks album performed by the London Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Falletta, and his work and performances have been highly acclaimed, with 2005's "American Place" receiving a Grammy nomination. The main work on this album is a piano concerto inspired by a painting by Helen Frankenthaler, an American abstract painter who currently fascinates Fuchs. The piano concerto is so impactful that it has changed the style of his work. Each of the three movements is titled after a Frankenthaler painting, but the work is not esoteric in style; it is a delightful piece with natural and beautiful tunes. The other three pieces on the album are "Poem of Life" sung by a countertenor, "Glacier" with electric guitar, and "Rush" in a jazz style.The song used on the cover is "Silent Wish" by Frankenthaler.
