Young Latvian String Trio The debut disc of the Bartia String Trio! The young string trio, named "Baltia" (Baltic), was nominated for "Concert of the Year" after performing at the opening of the 2022 season of the series, a collaboration between Mother Mejotne Castle and the Pēteris Vasks Foundation. They have performed in programs and concerts on the Latvian Broadcasting Corporation in repertoire centered on Mozart and Beethoven. The White Bird is their debut album. White Bird," dedicated to Bartia by Gundega Šimite, is a work that features birds native to the Baltic region: whooper swans, white-fronted doves, gulls, and white-fronted storks. The "Inner Castle" for violin and cello, composed by Peteris Vasquez in memory of the Spanish mystic St. Teresa of Avila (1515-1582), is performed in the composer's own arrangement for string trio.Gundaris Poné, who lived and worked in the United States for a long time, is said to have followed the Latvian view of death as a "great final question," rather than lamenting it as a tragedy. Tarivaldis Keninš is one of the most well-known Latvian composers. Born in Latvia, he studied in France before emigrating to Canada. His works, especially symphonies in a neo-romantic style that incorporates modern techniques, are often performed in Canada, and the Latvian National Symphony Orchestra has recorded his complete works. The String Trio was composed in 1989, during his first visit to Latvia after leaving the country during World War II. It is considered one of his chamber music masterpieces. Tokyo M-Plus
