Symphony & "Mystery of the Nativity" on the Christmas story by renowned religious music composer Rihals Dubra! Latvian composer Rihals Dubra (1964-) is a church musician and music teacher who composes mainly religious music. His music has attracted international attention, and the British label Hyperion has released his religious choral works, including "Oculus non vidit" (Eyes yet to see, Ears yet to hear), sung by the Royal Holloway Choir of the University of London, as "Hal, Queen of Heaven" (Cd. (Hal, Queen of Heaven) (CDA67799), a collection of his religious choral works, including "non vidit" sung by the Royal Holloway Choir of the University of London. This album features two orchestral works performed by Atvars Lakstigala (1981-) and the Liepāja Symphony Orchestra. Symphony No. 2 was inspired by the "Revelation" of the "New Testament" and consists of three movements: "Vision," "Hymn," and "And I.... The work is characterized by a style in which rhythmic and harmonic changes are suppressed, the repetition of phrases (ostinato) and melodies are colored with the orchestra's primary color palette, and the music moves forward in a linear fashion.The Mystery of the Nativity, with Erichus Krischfels playing solo, is a small piece for cello and orchestra on the theme of the Christmas story, written in an almost symphonic technique.
