This is a popular disc from "Arhoolie Records", a long-established roots music label in the United States. A masterful performance by Snuffy Jenkins, a pioneer of bluegrass banjo! Homer "Puppy" Lee Sherrill (1915-2001), a fiddle player from North Carolina who is Snuffy's partner in this album, started playing the fiddle at the age of 7. After playing with top country musicians, including the country music duo The Blue Sky Boys (1935-75), he left the Mountaineers in 1939 to form the bluegrass/old-time music band, The Hired Hands, with Snuffy. After playing with country musicians, he left the Mountaineers in 1939 to form the bluegrass/old-time music band: The Hired Hands. The two continued to work as a tag-team until 1990, and produced many great performances as a truly great duo. This album is a collection of their performances, which you can enjoy to your heart's content. (C)RS
