A fuller experience far beyond the extravaganza of a noblewoman! Unmissable German court music of the Rococo period Wilhelmine von Prussia, sister of Crown Prince Friedrich of Prussia (later King Friedrich the Great), was received by the Countess of Bayreuth on the southern German frontier in 1731. Like her brother, with whom she corresponded throughout her life, she was passionate about music, and not only played the harpsichord and lute with great skill, but also composed works that rivaled those of her profession. The performance is a great success. The works of Countess Wilhelmine have attracted attention from time to time since the 20th century, when the performance of ancient instruments was not as popular as it is today, and some of them have been recorded on modern instruments. The compositional skills of the composers on this disc are astonishingly good, and are not inferior to the works of her contemporaries. The solos of each instrument are vivid and effective in the interplay of minor-key charm and rococo elegance, which is reminiscent of the polysensorialism of C.P.E. Bach, who served his brother Friedrich, and the Graun brothers.The performers, including Josephine Andechon, who is also a lieder singer, are dependable in their deep reading of every detail of the music, resulting in a crisp interpretation of the music. At the end of the CD, Wilhelmine also includes an early concerto by Locatelli, with whom she played in Berlin. Naxos Japan
