Description:
A series of masterpieces of old music, remastered by the genius Hugues Deschaux, are now back! Skip Sempé, a harpsichordist from New Orleans, is one of America's foremost jazz musicians and has deep ties to French culture in the country's history. In 1986, Sempé gathered together a group of elite French classical instrumentalists to form Capriccio Stravagante, which has recorded numerous masterpieces for Deutsche Harmonia Mundi, Astree/Naive, and the early ALPHA label, as well as for Sempé's own label, Paradiz, since 2005. Since 2005, he has been making rapid progress on Sempé's own Paradizo label. The collection of Spanish Renaissance works recorded in 1998 and released on the Astree/Naive label has been reissued on Paradizo from time to time, but this time, a collection of works from the Spanish Renaissance, which had been long out of press, has been restored. The remastering by Hugues Déchaud, the genius of the early ALPHA label, brings back to life the rich, material sound of the old instruments of the masters who played the music hundreds of years ago.The ensemble is made up of talented musicians who are also active in Le Poème Armonique, Clément Jeanquin Ensemble, and L'Arpeggiata, and the gently layered sounds of the gamba ensemble will continue their unparalleled interpretation of the exquisite sound production of the Spanish Renaissance, which conveys the vibrant veins of the music with a palpable and unmistakable sense of touch. The Gamba Ensemble of Spain is a highly respected member of the Spanish Royal Family. The selection of music is also outstanding, centering on the masterful variations by Cabezon, a blind keyboardist who was highly trusted by the Spanish royal family, and including important works by major figures in the history of Spanish music such as Narvaez, Ortiz, and Mudarra, along with masterpieces by the Flemish musicians who influenced them, including De Lorre and Gombert. This new edition of this classic, which has been hard to find, is dedicated to the memory of the late cellist Michel Murzier, a former member of the ensemble. Naxos Japan
