Description:
The annual New Year's Concert of the Teatro La Fenice in Venice has been held since 2004, and for the third time since 2011 and 2015, Daniel Harding will conduct the New Year's Concert in 2021. Harding. As in previous years, the first part of the concert was performed by the orchestra, this time with Beethoven's Symphony No. 4. The second part, on the theme of opera, opens with Mozart's overture to "The Marriage of Figaro," followed by arias and choral pieces from Verdi's operas, including "Rigoletto" and "La Traviata," both premiered at La Fenice, as well as arias by Gounod and Donizetti sung in French and performed by the orchestra. The sumptuous program includes Offenbach's Hoffmann's Boat Song and Mascagni's "Cavalleria Rusticana" Interlude. At the end of the program, "A Toast" will be sung in high spirits. With the new coronavirus infection raging, Harding, the orchestra players, and even the chorus wore masks and performed without an audience, but the concert brought hope to many people through television broadcasts.
