Martineau left more than 400 works, of which cello works, with their unique depth and character, are known as a popular genre. Petr Nouzovsky, one of the Czech Republic's leading cellists, who performs here, studied at the Prague Conservatory, received his master's degree from the Prague University of Music, and continued his studies in Dresden and Madrid. He has honed his talents as one of ten selected from hundreds of applicants from around the world to perform at the Piatigorsky Seminar in Los Angeles, and in master classes with Rostropovich and Pergamenschikov. He is known as an authority on Martineau and has released the Cello Sonata (UP0212) on the ARCODIVA label and the Complete Works for Cello and Orchestra (2017, 2-CD set) on the MD+G label, and with this 2-CD set of works, he has recorded all of Martineau's cello works This two-disc collection sets a landmark record by recording all of Martineau's cello works.
