Description:
Fite was born in Litomněřice, a small Czech village ruled by the Austro-Hungarian Empire (Austrian Empire) at the beginning of the 19th century. He went to Prague at the age of 15 to study law, but lost his parents two years later and the support of his family. He decided to earn his living through music, which was his forte, and taught himself how to play various instruments and gave private lessons. He continued to study law and in 1831 became an employee of the Prague City Hall, but he also continued with music, playing in a string quartet in addition to teaching piano, and the string quartet he composed for this concert became so popular that it opened the door to becoming a composer. Fite is a pioneer of early Romantic music in the Czech Republic, and his works are imbued with the musical transitions from Beethoven to Dvořák.
