Paul Rouzas is known for his wide range of styles, from neoclassical to avant-garde works. On this album, you will hear the "Viola Concerto," first performed at the 1995 BBC Proms (here in a version revised by Rouzas in 2013), and the "Handel Variations," 90 variations on a theme from Handel's "Music on the Water" boule. The concerto is avant-garde but never loses its romanticism, while the variations transform Handel's lilting melody to the point of being completely unoriginal.
