Weinberg has rapidly gained attention in the 21st century (it is said to have started with the intensive performance of his works at the 2010 Bregenz Music Festival). Weinberg's 17 string quartets show different styles depending on the age of the work. The compact No. 8, written in the 1950s, and the classical form of Nos. 9 and 10 are said to be "the most accessible of Weinberg's works.
