The popular series, "That Sound, That Craftsman," introduces the producers and supporting musicians behind legendary stars' masterpieces and performances, and presents features based on the theme of rediscovering the magnificence of music through their historical work. This second installment of the series focuses on Carol Kaye, one of America's leading bassists. As a member of the famous studio session group "The Wrecking Crew," she was active from the 1960s to the 1970s and participated in the recording of more than several thousand songs. She is truly the "Queen of Sessions," having carved her sound on many well-known hits, including those by the Beach Boys. As a pioneering female bassist and session player of her time, and as an outstanding music educator, she has had a tremendous influence on future generations of musicians, and her contributions are immeasurable. This issue includes a CD with a selection of her "special work" songs. Supervision is provided by Hirokazu Yakame, a music writer well-known for his all-day commentary.We hope you will enjoy her great achievement, which marks the 75th anniversary of the start of her career and the 90th anniversary of her birth soon, with a wonderful collection of masterpieces.
