Description:
A collection of previously unreleased material by Children of the Mushroom, a band that was widely popular in California in the late 1960s for its unique groovy and pop organ sound, is now available on the Out-Sider label, a Spanish discovery label. Children of the Mushroom was a five-piece rock band active in the Los Angeles area from the late 1960s to the early 1970s. Although they only released one single, it was a groovy pop-psychedelic single with VOX organ, which became very popular among collectors and has remained popular among garage and psychedelic fans since the 1990s. This is a special edition of previously unreleased recordings from the latter half of the band's career. The album contains 5 studio recordings and 5 live recordings. The trademark organ sound remains the same, but there is a shift to a more progressive and harder style with acid flute and jazzy development compared to the single, and influences from Jethro Tull, Steinhammer, Gypsy, and Bloodrock can be heard. The result is an interesting new world that could be described as the missing link between West Coast psychedelic music and British hard rock. Journalist Clement Brezniker, who runs the online psychedelic/progressive media site "It's Psychedelic Baby," contributes liner notes (with Japanese bilingual translation).
