Pianist Rei Eguchi tackles Beethoven's three major sonatas on her 10th solo album. For this recording, two vintage Steinway pianos were used: the 1887 ≪Rosewood≫ for No. 8, composed in 1783, and No. 14, composed in 1801, which has a strong fortepiano flavor, and the 1912 ≪CD75≫ for No. 23, composed from 1804 to 1806, which has a wider dynamic range. By playing No. 23, composed between 1804 and 1806, with the more dynamic range of the 1912 ≪CD75≫, the original image of the music, which had been overlooked until now, was clarified. (C)RS
