Koichi Yabori, known as a jazz fusion guitarist and author of numerous jazz guitar-related books, videos, and instructional manuals, has completed a full album for his new project to be released in 2022! The name of the album is "GENMONTO". The name of the album is "Gen Mondo" and the concept of the album "Sosan/Sepa" is known as "Zen Question and Answer". This title was arrived at by imagining a "conversation" between stringed instruments, aiming for a highly sophisticated conversation that can be read as a debate between highly learned monks. It was a coincidence that the English (romanized) notation GEN (strings) became MONDO (world), but both titles are "clever" and well represent the nature of the album/project. Yabori, who has been mainly using electric guitar in his previous works, has been active in the hard-edged jazz fusion genre, but occasionally plays acoustic guitar, especially with gut strings, on a few songs on the album and in live performances, creating a unique world view. Yabori himself noticed the "unique sound and concept" and expressed his desire to produce an album.In November, he entered the studio with Jiro Okada and Yoichi Okabe, and recorded "VaizravaNa" in one day with his old friend Kozo Suganuma, who had passed away the day before. Okada and I went into the studio together with Yoichi. After that, he and Okada rehearsed and recorded many times in the studio to create a Duo piece.
