Celibidacke + London Symphony Orchestra Legendary 7 Concerts at the Royal Festival Hall Newly mastered with improved sound quality, stereo recording CD Japan pressing. Includes liner notes in English and Japanese. In the late 1970s, Celibidacke had a close relationship with the London Symphony Orchestra. The music is colorful and vibrant, drawn from a rich palette of paints. The duo also gave an over-scheduled tour of Japan in April 1980. This set also includes all the pieces from their Japan tour. The London Symphony Orchestra is in a period of transition from the Previn era to the Abbado era. The orchestra is led by Michael Davis, trombonist Dennis Wick, trumpeter Maurice Murphy, and other virtuosos. ), and trumpeter Maurice Murphy (many standouts!). They respond beautifully to the aggressive Celibidacke before his arrival at the Munich Philharmonic. The only recording of Tippett's "Festival Dance," which was performed in Japan but has not been released for some reason, is also included.
