The first volume is a Record Art Special Selection! Pina Napolitano's "Brahms the Progressive" Vol. 2! This is the second volume of Pina Napolitano's "Brahms the Progressive" series. The first one, "Brahms, Webern, Berg: Piano Works" (ODRCD330), was specially selected by Recorded Arts! Brahms was not the stubborn conservative that is generally believed, but was in fact a progressive composer who was deeply devoted to and influenced by the three members of the New Viennese Music School. This project aims to highlight this aspect of Brahms by contrasting his works with those of the New Vienna School. Webern's Concerto for 9 instruments will be performed opposite Brahms' Piano Concerto No. 2, a work as large as a symphony, and Napolitano's Concerto for 9 instruments is not a piano concerto in the traditional sense, but a very chamber music piece. Napolitano leads the work, which is written in a severe style, and expresses a stark lyricism. In Brahms' Second Piano Concerto, Napolitano unabashedly displays sweet romanticism, while at the same time playing the work's inherently robust logic and structure with a dignified attitude. It can be said that this is the birth of a new masterpiece of the same work.Listeners will rediscover in this album the romanticism in Webern's works and the avant-garde in Brahms' works.
