Description:

DENON ORT MASTERING SACD SERIES No. 17 A collection of three original albums recorded between 1976 and 1980. This is the first SACD release in high-resolution format using ORT mastering! Yuji Takahashi created the Satie boom in Japan in the 1970s. The three Satie albums that triggered this boom are all considered masterpieces. The three Satie albums that triggered the Satie boom in Japan in the 1970s are all considered masterpieces. The CD layer also uses this mastered sound source. Yuji Takahashi (1938-) first recorded Satie for the DENON label in 1976, the 110th anniversary of her birth (DISC 1). The recordings are selected from piano solos and early and late works, and are untitled. The second album, recorded three years later in March 1979, is DISC 2, which has "From the Humorous Era" as the album title and features only works from the limited period from 1912 to 1915, including solo piano works and "What I See on the Right and Left (without glasses)" with violin, as in the first album. The third work is "For Four Hands," which is a solo piano piece. The third work is titled "Piano Works for Four Hands" and was recorded in November of the same year and part of it in January of the following year, 1980. The main work on this album is a four-hand piece with piano by Alain Planès, but at the end of the album, an "Eccentric Beauty" was added with clarinet and bassoon. The clarinetist Yuji Murai, who passed away in April this year (2025), and Koji Okazaki, the principal of the NHK Symphony Orchestra at the time of the recording, were among the leading players in Japan, which shows the enthusiasm of the label at that time. It is interesting to note that the 1st and 2nd pianos are interchanged in DISC3. (1/2)
