CD tie-in with "At the End of the Matinee," a novel serialized in the Mainichi Newspaper morning edition from March 2015 to January 2016 by Akutagawa Award-winning author Keiichiro Hirano. A romantic novel centered on two people, Satoshi Makino, a guitar prodigy, and Yoko Komine, a reporter for a news agency, the story is a complex tale of 40s agony, slump, PTSD, war, life and death, father and son, teacher and student, jealousy, and many more. The book was published by Mainichi Shimbun in April 2016 and went into a sixth printing just three months after its release, which is unprecedented. The main character is a classical guitarist, and world-renowned guitarist Shinichi Fukuda advised Hirano from the conception stage. For this CD, Shinichi Fukuda and Keiichiro Hirano have selected guitar pieces that appear in the novel, and the story is further sculpted by Shinichi Fukuda's guitar. The fictional song "The Coin of Happiness" follows Hirano's image faithfully and was composed by up-and-coming composer Soyoka Hayashi on Fukuda's advice, and the CD jacket is by Masanobu Ishii of Kaibutsu-sha, who did the illustrations during the serialization and the cover of the book.
