Description:
Licensed reissue of TAHRA's famous "Furtwängler in Italy" disc! Newly remastered rare sound sources are brought back to life. The famous collaboration with De Wiet, Mendelssohn & Brahms! Furtwängler in Italy" (FURT-1080), originally released on the Tara label, has been reissued under license. This is a very rare recording of Furtwängler in his later years with the RAI Symphony Orchestra. The Tarra disc, which was said to have the best sound quality of all the recordings, has been remastered to make it even easier to listen to. We recommend this recording as the definitive recording of this performance. Furtwängler's relationship with Italy was deep, and according to records, he gave concerts in Italy from 1922 to 1954. The recordings include 69 orchestral concerts and 112 operas, featuring 31 composers and 76 works. The Japanese translation of the commentary on the reception of Furtwängler in Italy, including how critics and audiences of the time praised and criticized the music, is also valuable. The renowned Italian violinist De Vito and Furtwängler perform together. Both Mendelssohn and Brahms are concertos in which de Wieto excels, and while they have a light, bright sound, they also have a sense of tension, making for a slow and deliberate listening experience. Furtwängler's backing is also imposing, making this a truly gigantic performance. King International
