From *The Game Tour*, held during the band’s peak, this release captures their first South American performance—a concert at a massive stadium in São Paulo, Brazil, on March 20, 1981! Featuring the March 20, 1981, concert in São Paulo, Brazil, from the *The Game Tour*, held during Queen’s golden era of 1980–1981! While many rock bands were losing momentum amid the rise of punk and disco, Queen was virtually unbeatable during this period. They released *The Game* in 1980. The rockabilly-style "Crazy Little Thing Called Love" reached No. 1 on the U.S. charts for the first time. Furthermore, "Another One Bites the Dust," influenced by Chic’s "Good Times," also reached No. 1 in the U.S., conquering the disco scene as well. Amidst all this, *The Game Tour* kicked off on June 30, 1980, in Vancouver, Canada, and continued through September across North America. After a brief break, the tour moved to Europe for about a month starting November 23. In mid-February of the following year, they arrived in Japan and sold out five shows at the Budokan. They then headed to South America for their first-ever performances there. They performed five shows in Argentina and two in São Paulo, Brazil. This recording captures the first night of those São Paulo shows. The venue was the Estádio do Morumbi, home to the São Paulo FC soccer team—a massive stadium with a seating capacity of 73,000. Queen drew a total of 250,000 people over two days, delivering a truly electrifying performance. The setlist was essentially a "Greatest Hits" compilation at that point—it would be a lie to say you didn’t get fired up by it. Since parts of that day’s performance have been released as official recordings, you can fully savor the intensity of the live show. When it comes to Queen’s South American tours, the 1985 "Rock in Rio" is famous, but the groundwork for that was already laid here. This is a must-have recording for fans.
