Enkhjargal Erkhembayar, a Mongolian singer-songwriter who fuses traditional Mongolian folk song Ortindo with jazz, is the long-awaited new album from Enkhjargal Erkhembayar, a Mongolian-born singer-songwriter living in Munich, Germany. Her second album "Ursgal," released in 2021, which uniquely fuses jazz and folk with the traditional Mongolian folk song Ortindo, received high acclaim and became a long seller. The new album has now been delivered after two years. In addition to a solid trio featuring Paul Brandl of the Munich jazz quintet Fazer on guitar, Mongolian double bassist Munguntovch Tsolmonbayar on double bass, and her vocals, "Ursgal" also features the Brazilian-born drummer Maria Maria Maier on bass. Ulaan" is a quintet featuring Brazilian drummer Maria Portugal and clarinetist Joana Queiroz, creating a fusion of down-to-earth folk and brooding jazz.Common experiences across cultures, questions of belonging and affinity are key themes of the album. Enzi continues to grow and adapt to her new role as she continues her journey of self-discovery. In "Ulaan," she bares more of her heart than ever before, but she still has much to give as a vocalist, bandleader, and storyteller. As on her previous album, the album was produced and mixed by Munich producer Martin Bragger, who is also the co-founder of the Squama label.
