Efterklang

Description:

Danish electronica-art-pop legends Efterklang's latest releaseFor more than 20 years, Efterklang has been weaving a tapestry of electronic and acoustic music to create their own unique pop and experimental sound, weaving a tapestry of electronic and acoustic music. Following 2021's Windflowers, the Danish band Efterklang has released Things We Have In Common, their seventh studio effort. With this first album in three years, the band closes the circle that began with 2019's "Altid Sammen" and continued with "Windflowers". In these three albums, the band has opened the door to a simpler and more inclusive expression, exploring themes of human connection, the relationship between humans and nature, and collective spirituality and belonging.A founding member of Efterklang with the trio of Mads Brauer, Rasmus Stolberg, and Casper Claussen in Things We Have In Common, pianist/composer René Mourgaud is involved at a deep level for the first time in many years, co-writing seven of the nine tracks. During his time away from the band, René fell in love with a woman who grew up in the Mormon church, awakened his spiritual side, and embraced Mormonism in body and soul. As time went on, however, he found it increasingly difficult to hold on to his newfound faith, and soon his faith was nearly crushed under the weight of unanswered questions. Then, in 2022, René broke with Mormonism. In this film, the three main members of Efterklang take a step back to make room for René's ideas and sound world. On their separate journeys, each on their own separate paths, they find a common place in music." The album expresses their nomadic sense of belonging: to exist in a situation where they don't belong anywhere or with anyone, and to be together in that situation. In addition to Rene Mulgaard, many other musicians participate. Zack Condon, aka Beirut, Finnish drummer Tatu Ronco, Venezuelan guitarist Hector Tosta, and Guatemalan cellist/singer Mabe Flatti are important collaborators. Italian engineer Francesco Donadello, known for his work with Johan Johansson and Dustin O'Halloran, also left an important mark on the album, as did the South Denmark Girls Choir, who sing on "Animated Heart" and "To A New Day" ( Sonderjysk Pigekor) played an equally important role. exactly 20 years after their first album, "Tripper. This is where Efterklang, with its experimental, adventurous spirit and unafraid to keep changing, has arrived. It is a very grand and beautiful work that renews the highest peak of his career.
