Kaido Tosho" is one of Japan's representative cantatas, written in 1940 to celebrate the 2600th anniversary of the Japanese Empire. Based on a poem by the noble Kitahara Hakushu, Nobutoki Kiyoshi has woven a wealth of elegant harmony into a piece of truly Japanese stylistic beauty, making it a major work representative of the Showa era. This new recording is a masterpiece of choral conducting by Akiyasu Shima. The soloists, chorus, and orchestra are united, and the entire album is filled with enthusiasm.
