Masataka Hori, one of Japan's most talented mandolinists. He won the first prize at the 10th Raffaele Carache International Mandolin Solo Competition and is highly acclaimed both in Japan and abroad. This year's album release focuses on mandolinist Tsunehiko Tanaka, who celebrates the 130th anniversary of his birth in 2020. Tanaka Tsunehiko was the first professional mandolinist in Japan to play the mandolin in the Taisho era (1912-1926), when it was not easy to obtain Western sheet music. He was one of the founders of the Keio University Mandolin Club, the first president of the Japan Mandolin Federation, and a pioneer in the Japanese mandolin world. This work is selected from the repertoire actually performed by Tsunehiko Tanaka, and represents his activities and life as a performer.
