Reissue of Dina Ugorskaya's masterpiece! C'Avi releases a rare disc combining Bach's Inventions and Chopin's Preludes! Dina Ugorskaya, daughter of the famous Russian pianist Anatole Ugorski and herself an international concert pianist, passed away in September 2019 at the age of 46 after a battle with cancer while serving as professor of piano at the Vienna State University of Music and Theater since 2016. She passed away in September 2019 at the age of 46. This rare "Bach & Chopin" album was released by Venus Music in 2008 and has been out of print for some time. Bach's Inventions are unfortunately still regarded as mere exercises, but the two-voice Inventions in particular have always fascinated Ugorskaya since childhood, thanks to their incredible sophistication and wealth of ideas. And in contrast, Chopin's Prelude is one of the most challenging collections in piano music, both in terms of musicality and technique.Ugorskaya, who was called the "philosopher at the piano" for his deep sensitivity and calm performance, beautifully contrasts Bach's frankness and Chopin's complexity in this one of his masterpieces.
