Slade, the beloved British "national glam rock band" that dominated the charts in the U.K. in the 1970s, was formed in Wolverhampton in 1966 and has been active on the British music scene for almost 30 years until they went on hiatus in 1992. In 1970, Slade rode the momentum of the glam-rock movement, and with their simple, clear, and bold pop melodies and eccentric glam fashion, they sent hit after hit after hit into the UK charts, making a huge impact as one of the biggest bands in Europe at the time. 70's In addition to releasing three No. 1 albums in the U.K., the band had 17 consecutive singles in the U.K. Top 20 from 1971 to 1976, and their popularity continued unabated as the "soundtrack of the glam generation. Their cheerful Christmas rock number "Merry Xmas Everybody" was first released in 1973, and since then it has remained one of the UK's "national Christmas singles" that has been a hit on the singles charts and in the streets during the festive season. The song has been re-released numerous times and has been covered by everyone from the Spice Girls to Oasis and Robbie Williams, as well as Cheap Trick and Train, and will be released as a 12-inch analog single in winter 2022. The Christmas-like snowflake vinyl release will feature "Merry Xmas Everybody" and three other songs from Slade's 1985 Christmas party album, "Crackers".The inclusion of the familiar "Firefly Light (Auld Lang Syne)" at the end of the year is another heartbreaking feature.
