Beethoven (1770-1827)
Description:
This is the Ninth of 2007! Arvid Jansons, the astonishing "Ninth" with Japanese obi and commentary! Arvid Jansons (1914-1984) is the great father of Mariss Jansons. He was the conductor of the Leningrad Philharmonic Orchestra in its golden age, and visited Japan frequently not only with his own troops but also as an honorary conductor of the Tokyo Symphony Orchestra. In contrast to Maris, whose music is more international in its orientation, the Tokyo Symphony Orchestra is overwhelmed by the individualistic and profound expression of this master conductor, who has his roots in the 19th century. It is a pity that the music has been almost forgotten in spite of the fact that it was recorded less than 20 years after his death, because there are extremely few recordings of his music. In fact, his repertoire is very wide, and he was known as an excellent orchestral trainer, and was even acclaimed to have "turned lead into gold" when he first appeared with the Tokyo Symphony Orchestra. It is surprising that a recording of the Ninth has survived, but it was a festive performance held on New Year's Eve in the Friedrichstadtpalast, a place normally known for musicals and review performances in the former East Berlin. The content was serious and slow, with a slow and deliberate tempo, and a respectful rhythm that did not neglect a single biting stroke. The majestic dignity of this performance is sure to satisfy even the most discerning fans of traditional German playing. Mr. Mariss Jansons has immediately agreed to release this recording, and WEITBLICK plans to continue introducing Arvid Jansons' masterpieces in the future. Liner notes in English, Japanese, and German are included. [Comment courtesy of Tobu Trading].
