Erich Zeisl, Ilse Weber, Rosie Wertheim, Georg Kreisler, all great composers of the early 20th century, yet today they are lumped together under the title "music in exile," persecuted mainly by the Nazis. Soprano Pia Davila and pianist Linda Reine, winners of the International Competition for Exiled Music 2016 in Schwerin, Germany, want these very beautiful and wonderfully harmonized and sensitive pieces of music to become a natural part of the repertoire. The album was also recorded as an opportunity to see and hear these composers from a different perspective. Almost all of these composers lived tragic lives, but there is a humor, a joie de vivre and cheerfulness in their works, and the fact that the humor in these music and lyrics from 100 years ago is still relevant today is communicated through this album.
