Description:
Baroque harp by Margrethe Kehl and soprano by Roberta Invernizzi, a performance by the 17th century Roman court Rome was in crisis at the end of the Middle Ages due to the Great Schism, which split the Catholic Church into Rome and Avignon, and the exile of people to Avignon. It was the spirit of humanism and the Renaissance, the construction of churches and palaces and the resulting increase in the flow of people, and the rich culture of the first-class artists who naturally gathered in Rome that made it once again the greatest city in Italy. Pope Urbanus VIII, himself an accomplished poet, is said to have been a patron of culture and the arts. This CD features the Baroque harp "Arpa Barberini" from the instrument collection of the Barberini family, which produced such a Pope Urbanus VIII, along with a soprano voice. instrument differs from today's modern harps in its harpsichord-like hardness of tone and its instrumental structure that allows chromatic scales to be played in all keys. It is also known that Giovanni Lanfranco, a leading painter of the Italian Baroque period, depicted it in his painting "Allegory of Music," and the instrument is still manufactured as it was in those days. The recorded works are by composers associated with the court of the Barberini family. It includes vocal pieces for solo soprano voice and harp accompaniment, as well as works performed solo on harp. Roberta Invernizzi, a soprano with an established reputation for performing ancient and baroque music, and Margrethe Kehr's harp, which is both elegant and florid, convey the scent of 17th century Rome. The booklet includes paintings from the collection of Palazzo Barberini, including "Allegory of Music" by Giovanni Lanfranco. This CD allows you to enjoy the sound of "Arpa Barberini" that echoed in the court of those days. King International
