The girl group that made their shocking debut in Benin, West Africa, to a storm of acclaim and praise, has released their third album ('25)! Hailing from a small village where even the people of Benin don't know where it is, these eight young women started their careers in difficult circumstances. Not only did they have to convince themselves that it was worth the challenge, they also had to convince their families, their villages, and the entire continent. Their support would come from their composer, manager, and lyricist, André Balagmon. He sent his three daughters to join the group, and he and his wife Edwige, who was in charge of dance and costumes, ensured that everyone had a place to live. He not only provided the members with a musical education, but also made it possible for them to attend school while they rehearsed hard. As a result, the group became not only local heroes but also UNICEF ambassadors. This is their third album. Two new members have joined the group since the last album, and the group is now more powerful to conquer a bigger stage. Wandering through the vast territory of countless West African styles, they seem more original than ever.The song touches on reggae talking about marriage (with a little rap), and is sung in a variety of languages, including Waama, Ditamari, Bariba, Fon, and Yoruba. Each has its own character, but "L'enfant c'est un don de Dieu (A child is a gift from God)" is the best of all. The group dances together, singing, "Debout-les-en-fants / Wake up, children! The song is a powerful one, as the dancers methodically level the ground so that everyone can dance together. The arrangements are smoother and more refined than on the first two albums, supported by ambitious keyboard parts and more complex vocal harmonies, but the improvisational nature is not lost. It is a quieter addition to Benin's musical tradition, but one that resonates comfortably in the listener's ears.
