Inspired by and dedicated to the famous Alhambra Palace in Granada, Spain, and to the two first performers, Isabel Faust and Elas-Cassado. Eötvös said, "The fountain of the palace, its dimensions, the surrounding mountains, the wonderful Andalusian sunsets, all became part of my work. If I were a painter, I would have painted it."
