Produced by Jayne Hendrix, Eddie Kramer (the Experience's first recording engineer), and John McDermott, this spectacular collection features 5 LPs + Blu-ray Audio.In addition to the stereo and mono mixes remastered from the original mix of "Axis: Bold as Love" created by Hendrix, Chas Chandler, who produced the album, and Eddie Kramer, who engineered the original release, Kramer and engineer Chandler Harrod have created a new immersive Dolby Atmos mix. The box set contains 40 additional tracks from the album's conception and recording period, including alternate versions, unreleased studio takes, demos, live tracks, and television appearances, 28 of which have never before seen the light of day. As of May 1967, the Jimi Hendrix Experience had completed its groundbreaking debut album, "Are You Experienced? at London's Olympic Studios and immediately began work on the next album.Hendrix arrived in London in late September 1966 and soon amassed three Top 10 singles on his home turf in the U.K., followed by a flurry of successes throughout Europe, but he had yet to conquer the U.S. In June 1967, the group headed to the U.S. and made their American debut at the Montaley International Pop Festival. In June 1967, the group headed to the United States and made their U.S. debut at the Monterey International Pop Festival. Their stunning Monterey debut, which included a performance in which Hendrix lit his guitar on fire at the end of the performance, led to a successful U.S. run in the summer of 1967. Before returning to London, producer Chas Chandler recorded the group's fourth single, "Burning of the Midnight Lamp" (b/w "Stars That Play With Laughing Sam's Dice") in New York and Los Angeles sessions, where it was recorded. Previously unreleased versions of both songs will be performed on this album, Bold as Love. (1/3)
