Joe Farnsworth, a popular white drummer, presents his second leader album on Smoke Sessions Records. Joe Farnsworth was born in Massachusetts in 1968. He is a drummer who specializes in a strait-ahead style of playing. He has steadily built a career playing and recording with such renowned artists as George Coleman, Benny Golson, Pharaoh Sanders, Curtis Fuller, Horace Silver, and Diana Krall, and is now considered one of the top drummers in the jazz world. He is also very active as a regular drummer in Harold Mayburn's trio and the Eric Alexander Quartet, both of which have sadly passed away. He has visited Japan many times and has won many fans in Japan with his cheerful personality and playing style.Continuing from the previous album "Time To Swing," this album features the renowned pianist Kenny Barron. The piano solo is lightly developed, and is supported by the tight rhythm section of bassist Peter Washington, who has known Joe Farnsworth for many years, making this a joyful piano trio work. Joe Farnsworth has played with McCoy Tyner, Cedar Walton, Harold Mayburn, Hank Jones, David Hazeltine, ELEW, and others in piano trios, and this is a style that he has always excelled at. As the title suggests, this album is filled with love and respect for New York City and the jazzmen who played there before him, including Charlie Parker and Thelonious Monk.
