This album, the first release in a partnership with New Amsterdam Records, which has a similar concept to Nonesuch Records, will be a string quartet work by Caroline Shaw, a much talked about composer in the United States. The work has a motto-music concept of the birth of an orange, and emphasizes simple harmonic changes like those of Ravel, Bartók, Bach, Monteverdi, and others, and as she has said, "The purest music can be played by a string quartet," and it has been highly acclaimed in the U.S. ". The purest music is played by the Atacca Quartet," she says. During rehearsals with them, she said, "the actual sound had an unexpected sincerity, and we discovered the existence of a surprisingly deep relationship it has with ourselves and our audience."
